Today
Includes pages, updates, apps, programs, rants and YT shit show.
I am definatelly happpier with custom website and doing coding, creative work and shopping stuff I love than maintaining dry websites with no personality.
I coulden’t wait to put party back online, I stayed up really late last night and did everything in one batch.
Page will progress with time, I have a lot of new things that I want to try and do.
Codeberg backup
Backup my web page on Codeberg via Terminal push.
Codeberg will serve as a backup only, which means that it can but it doesn’t need to be 100% identical to original page in functionality, and depending how frequent the backups are. This is only in case that midsummer goes down because of server/library issues.
Main page
In the past I would use private Github repo to automatically build Jekyll into Cloudflare pages, which wasn’t without error. Two services in some instances were not entirely in sync, and build would fail.
Now I simply build _site locally and upload that folder into Cloudflare. I push the copy of the same folder into Codeberg via terminal git.
I assume Codeberg will need something different in the future, so that’s why I have two separate folders. Midsummer is not big so this is not an issue.
XMPP chat
Testing started with XMPP, mobile apps are OK and responsive - I like the Conversations ( F-Droid), and I installed Pidgin and Gajim on Linux desktop to see how they work.
Stout is fine, but XMPP looks promising and it is well tested protocol with high level of privacy, long history and a lot of supporters.
The second looks better, but Pidgin has more features ( and more protocols).
I think for now I will use Gajim and Conversations because they are easy.
And this is my contact channel ( for apps):
xmpp:midsummer-party@conference.conversations.im?join
Channel is also available online as a chat room - web client , just go to
https://web.conversations.im
and add a groupchat:
midsummer-party@conference.conversations.im
My handle is super simple, and that one can also be added as a contact.
kesks@conversations.im
Projects…
Yes, I will include what I am doing on YT in here, I have more ideas to annoy people forever.
I will not upload my premium videos behind YT paywall, because I went to lengths and found out that support staff in fact CAN see member only videos.
Member only videos are a subject to policy same as public videos, so support staff IF having a LEGIT reason to human check it they can in any moment they want.
This means they report it externally and then they have a “legit” reason to watch it Scott free.
Now, this is not going to happen, and because I am a blood sucking pestilence I will put premiums behind Gumroad paywall and then drink their bodily liquids through the little straw.
In portions.
Cerebral liquid, fat cells, blood, tears and sweat.
So, how much will I charge?
$1 if you don’t count zeroes.
If they were shitting door frames until now, I will make my best they shit razors from now on.
I have full right to do all of this, and it is not for my channel, though … that’s not OK either. Nobody deserves to be treated like a pile of trash, and no, I will not back off.
Innocent gossips, jokes based on personal preferences on grown ass adult’s hair or crooked nose have nothing to do with shit they are doing.
Besides bs with hair and vegetable jokes, I have no intention catering mentally ill individuals. They do not belong in my environment, world is big enough for everyone and tehy should take what they are selling elsewhere. Being polite and respecting yourself go hand in hand.
Of course the traffic on YT dropped insane, and this is not a result of me not posting celeb videos, but because something or somebody is deprecating streams.
Streams usually had significantly more visitors, and now not even people who are trying to stay on top of my live streams either don’t get timely notification or simply don’t see me in their feed.
Also, I elevated quality of a channel in general, removed questionable videos and I have around 30-ish yet to review and release publicly.
How I do it? I make videos unlisted or public briefly and tell NotebookLM - a Google’s own tool - to quality check and each against their own policies. It scrapes, analyses and spits results within seconds, with timestamps and everything.
Robot used on YouTube is similar or even the same as Notebook, and can easily estimate if video can be voted out as not appropriate or for any reason reported.
